Afsaneh Kaviani

Founder and chef, Afsaneh’s Kitchen

Iranian chef Afsaneh Kaviani is widely known – not only for being a Masterchef finalist – but for her passion for Persian food and culture.

Promoting Persian food “the way it’s served at home”, Afsaneh runs award-winning Persian supper clubs under the name Afsaneh’s Kitchen.

Offering a sharing feast of authentic Persian dishes, from mezze and rice dishes to the best of Iran’s stews, Afsaneh has become a household name in Leeds, the city in which she is based.

Expanding her mission to spread her passion for Persian cuisine far and wide, she also offers both private catering and cooking classes, and frequently runs demonstrations in Middle Eastern cooking at food festivals across the country.

Over the years, Afsaneh has won various awards for her cooking, including for Best World Food at the Yorkshire Evening Post Oliver Awards.

Those who book a place on one of Afsaneh’s supper clubs can expect to learn lots of different Persian cooking techniques, such as how to roll, shape and gently spice Persian meatballs, how to make a delicious Persian aubergine dip, and how to make Persian chicken and saffron stew.

Guests eat the food they make for lunch, as well as taking home two dishes, along with Afsaneh’s very own recipes.

Whether you’re or natural in the kitchen or a complete novice the aim, Afsaneh says, is “simply to introduce Persian food to people and provide the opportunity for them to try as many dishes as possible.”
