Born to Persian parents, Datis is the founder of Bucks Star Beer, a multi award-winning microbrewery in Milton Keynes recognised for its sustainable, unfiltered beers. With a background in law and following a stint in banking, Datis pivoted to entrepreneurship, leaving the corporate world to pursue a more meaningful, ecologically conscious path, to build a brand that valued community, health and quality.
In 2023, he set out to create a beer tailored to the Persian market, combining his Persian culture with brewing innovation. His vision came to fruition in 2025 with the launch of Shiraz lager, an unfiltered and unpasteurised lager available in Persian restaurants across the UK.
Although Shiraz is widely known as a popular wine grape, fewer realise that it takes its name from the ancient city of Shiraz in Iran, but the name has become detached from its cultural and geographical roots.
Shiraz lager is a live beer, meaning it retains its probiotics, vitamins and minerals, and Datis wants Shiraz lager to become the beer of choice for Persian and all Middle Eastern establishments. His long-term aim is to source hops from Shiraz in Iran.
